Katy Staples, author

Katy Staples

Katy Staples is the schools adviser for the Diocese of Bristol and is adviser to the Standing Advisory Councils for Religious Education for both Bristol City Council and Swindon Borough Council.

Katy is author of Valuing All God’s Children (2017) – guidance for Anglican schools for countering homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. She also co-wrote Love and Sex Matters (2011) – a series of materials for Church of England schools to support relationships and sex education.

Katy taught RE, Humanities and PSHE for 23 years in secondary schools in London and North Somerset. She has a Masters degree in Religious Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She is a member of the National Religious Education Strategy Group and leads training across the South West region of England.

Gillian Georgiou, consultant editor (RE, education and pedagogy)

Gillian Georgiou

Gillian Georgiou works as an RE and SIAMS adviser for the Diocese of Lincoln. She has previously worked as a researcher, editor and secondary teacher of Religious Studies and Philosophy. Gillian sits on the RE Council of England and Wales and the Church of England Education Office RE working group. She has previously contributed to various publications, including Reforming RE (2020), We Need to Talk about RE (2018) and Impact, the journal of the Chartered College of Teaching.

Sam Ford, consultant editor (theology) and copy/design editor

Sam Ford

Sam Ford is a foundation governor at a Church primary school federation in Bristol. His bachelor’s degree is in theology from Durham University. Sam works as communications officer at a charity supporting vulnerable women with experience of domestic and sexual abuse, addiction, mental ill health and other severe disadvantages.
